Today we are whipping up a batch of peanut butter bacon dog treats! They are super easy to make, and Bobbi Jo is always standing right by the oven waiting for these to finish baking. Your dogs are sure to love them just as much as she does!
Important Safety Note: Always check your peanut butter label to ensure it does not contain any artificial sweeteners, especially xylitol, which is highly toxic to dogs. Additionally, be sure to review the ingredient list against any known food allergies your pet may have!
Ingredients
This is what you will need to make a batch of these crunchy treats:
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (xylitol-free)
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup bacon pieces (cooked and crumbled)

Instructions
- Prep the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix your whole wheat flour and baking powder together until well blended.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix your milk and peanut butter. Tip: Slowly add the milk into the peanut butter a little at a time so it mixes together much smoother.
- Form the Dough: Pour the milk and peanut butter mixture into the bowl with your flour mixture. Add in the bacon pieces. Stir everything together until a solid dough forms. If the dough feels a little too sticky, simply add a little more flour until it reaches a workable consistency.
- Knead and Roll: Lightly flour your work surface and your rolling pin. Turn your dough out onto the floured surface and knead it a few times by hand. Then, roll the dough out to about a 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut the Treats: Cut out the treats using your favorite cookie cutters. How many treats this makes depends entirely on the size of your cutter. Mom uses a small biscuit cutter, and this recipe yielded exactly 49 treats!
- Bake: Place the cutouts on a baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until lightly toasted.
Let the treats cool completely, and then share them with all your doggie friends!
