Copycat Hamburger Helper Rice Oriental

I have revised this recipe several times to try to make this as much like the original as possible. This is a lower sodium version.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cups low sodium beef broth
  • 1 cup long grain rice (rinsed)
  • 1 low sodium gravy packet
  • 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Method
 

  1. Over medium heat brown ground beef and drain the grease.
  2. Add in ginger, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  3. Mix soy sauce into 2 cups of beef broth. Pour into skillet.
  4. Mix the gravy packet with the remaining 2 cups of beef broth. Whisk until smooth. Pour that into the skillet. Stir and bring to a boil.
  5. Add rice. Reduce heat to low. Stir and cover until liquid is absorbed. Between 20 - 30 mins.
  6. Remove lid and stir. Serve and enjoy!
